It’s no exaggeration to say that Gustavo Hamer has been a thorn in Coventry City’s side since moving to Sheffield United.

The former Sky Blues favourite scored with a stunning top corner free-kick to spark the Blades to a 3-1 Bramall Lane victory in March, having had a hand in both goals in the 2-2 draw at the CBS Arena last November.

So the news that the Dutch midfielder is injured and unlikely to be fit to face his former club early next month will be welcome in the City camp, albeit without wishing ill on the hugely popular player who was a joy to watch during his time in the West Midlands.
