SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The Sioux Falls Police said the suspicious vehicle that was reported Friday night was taken out of an abundance of caution.

At Monday's police briefing, Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sgt. Aaron Benson said with the proximity of the courthouse, the Back to the Future musical and the plan for the No Kings protest, wanted to make sure the area was safe.

Another safety factor was evidence of "bomb-making materials" were found on the outside of the car.

"(The materials) can be a number of things. It could be anything from ammunition, gunpowder, household goods like fertilizer or peroxide, could cause a dog to indicate on a vehicle," Benson said.

KELOLAND'S Tom Hanson was at police briefing and he will have more information Monday night on KELOLAND News.
