A Detroit man apparently had been drinking before he fell from a dock and into Lake St. Clair, where he drowned, New Baltimore police said Monday.

Authorities identified the victim as Demari Dior Morgan, 27, who was visiting friends and family who had rented an AirBnb residence near the lake for the weekend.

According to police, Morgan was standing on a dock at the property early Sunday when he fell into the water and failed to resurface.

Dive teams from the New Baltimore and Harrison Township fire departments found his body on the lake bottom, under the dock he fell from, New Baltimore police said in a news release.

New Baltimore police have declined to specify where the property was located, but dispatch reports indicate it was a private residence on the 50800 block of Jefferson Aven
