Former Trooper Michael Proctor , the lead investigator in the Karen Read case, is no longer appealing to be reinstated to the Massachusetts State Police following his firing , his attorney said Monday.
Proctor had been due for several hearings this week before the Massachusetts Civil Service Commission in that effort. Two hearings have already been held in the matter, and Proctor’s side had been expected to focus on disciplinary records at the next one.

But Proctor attorney Brian Moynihan said Monday that the team withdrew the appeal after receiving a "recent disclosure" from the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office. He didn't share details on what that disclosure was.
