In what one art-recovery expert is calling a “national disaster,” thieves reportedly broke into the most-visited museum in the world in broad daylight on Sunday and stole a set of Napoleonic jewels, all while guests were milling around, just 30 minutes after the museum opened.

Per the AP , the group of thieves was able to enter by scaling the Louvre’s façade in a basket lift stationed on a public street.
