NEWPORT, Tenn. (WATE) — Newport Police officer Brandon Cassady faces charges of domestic assault and false imprisonment after a woman said he held her down on a bed and refused to let her leave the bedroom, court records stated.

On Monday, a Cocke County Sheriff's deputy responded to reports of a domestic incident. He met a woman who said that Cassady had accused her of cheating. According to the woman, he held her on a bed, tried to take her phone and refused to let her out of the bedroom; two children were in the bedroom also. She then called a man who intervened. She said this has been going on for months, according to the affidavit of complaint.

The deputy wrote that he could tell the woman "was in fear for her life." She told officers that Brandon would "try and destroy her life now
