CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — The state Department of Health and Human Services issued a warning over the weekend that the ongoing federal government shutdown could soon begin to impact the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service directed the DoHS to delay issuance of SNAP benefits approved on or after Oct. 16.

“Additionally, we have been notified that it is very likely the federal government shutdown will delay November 2025 SNAP benefits for all recipients if Congress does not take action to reopen the government in the coming days,” the department said in a social media post.
