BEND, Ore. - The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) is alerting 757,000 Oregonians about the potential loss of their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits after Oct. 31. This announcement comes amid the ongoing federal government shutdown.

According to ODHS, the Trump Administration has instructed states not to distribute November SNAP benefits due to the shutdown. This decision affects one in six Oregonians, including 210,000 children and 130,000 seniors.

"This is a cruel and unacceptable situation," Gov. Kotek said. She urged President Trump to prioritize reopening negotiations with Congress to restore food assistance.
