SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A national project to dispose of unused or expired medicines will take place around the country, including locations throughout South Dakota.
National Prescription Take Back Day is an initiative South Dakota has participated in since 2016.
Since then, South Dakota has collected more 113,399 pounds of medications from drop-off sites throughout the state.
These drop-offs help reduce the risk of accidental poisoning, drug overdose or one taking prescription drugs not prescribed to them.
