CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey announced a $19 million state investment on Monday, which will go towards upgrading Clarksburg's water infrastructure.

According to a press release from Governor Morrisey's office, the funding was announced during a press conference in Clarksburg and was made possible by partnerships with local, state and federal organizations.

The money will support a $50 million project which is focused on "replacing lead service lines, modernizing outdated systems, and ensuring safe, reliable water" for the community, according to the press release. The $19 million will specifically "replace hazardous lead service lines, upgrade undersized water mains, enhance fire protection capabilities, install modern water meters, and repair leaks
