SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A Delta Air Lines flight to Salt Lake City was forced to turn around midflight due to ‘unpleasant odor.’

Flight 2311 left Los Angeles for SLC on Oct. 18. Onboard were 189 customers, two pilots and four flight attendants.

“As nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, our crew followed standard procedures to safely return to Los Angeles after an unpleasant odor was detected onboard. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels,” said a spokesperson for Delta.

The airline shared that the smell was related to a spoiled food item brought onboard by a customer. They confirmed the odor was unrelated to onboard food and beverage services.
