COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTRF) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has filed arguments with the state’s Supreme Court defending a law that restricts medical treatments for minors aimed at changing gender.
The law, which remains in effect during the appeal, bars doctors from providing what it describes as experimental gender-related procedures to children. The case, Moe v. Yost, is now before the Ohio Supreme Court after the 10th District Court of Appeals ruled in favor of parents seeking such treatments for their children.
In his filing, Yost argues that the appeals court wrongly based its decision on the views of advocacy groups labeled as experts. He says the Ohio Constitution does not give these groups the power to determine state law.
