COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A Colorado Springs K9’s journey toward recovery has begun on a positive note, according to his handler.

Last week, K9 Roam was stabbed several times while trying to help police take in a barricaded suspect, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department. He was rushed to an emergency vet, where a team of doctors worked to save his life.

“I’ve never seen a group that big or extensive come together for one dog and I truly think that’s the reason that he was able to get to the place that he is,” said Dr. Danika Hayden, one of the emergency veterinarians who helped save Roam’s life.
