CLINTON, Mo. —

A Clinton police officer was injured Sunday morning after a suspect rammed into him with a vehicle and led officers on a pursuit that ended in Truman Lake.

According to the Clinton Police Department, officers were called to a gas station after a woman reported she had been assaulted and was being held against her will. Advertisement

When officers approached a suspect in the parking lot, police said the man refused to comply, put the vehicle in reverse, and struck an officer, throwing him onto a police cruiser.

A chase ensued, ending when the suspect crashed into Truman Lake and tried to flee on foot.

Officers detained him shortly afterward.

The department said the investigation remains ongoing and released partial video of the incident.
