CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - A Cape Girardeau man is accused of firing multiple shots over the weekend.
Maurice Patterson, Jr., 25, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, the ShotSpotter system alerted police to the shooting after 14 rounds were fired just before 2 A.M. on Saturday, October 18.
Investigators say 12 shell casings were found in an alley between the 1100 block of South Pacific and South Ellis Streets.
According to a probable cause statement, police found Patterson with a loaded handgun during a traffic stop shortly after the shots were fired.
Investigators say ammunition in the gun matched the brand of shell casings found at the scene.
Patterson is being held at the Cape Girardeau County Jail on a $
