A man was killed in a car crash in East Granby Sunday afternoon after his vehicle veered off the road, went down a slight embankment and hit a tree, state police said.

Troopers responded to a crash off Route 187 just before 3 p.m. Sunday and found a man unresponsive in the driver’s seat of an Infiniti Q70, according to the Connecticut State Police .

The East Granby Fire Department, as well as the Bradley Air National Guard Fire Department, responded to the scene and assisted in extracting the man from the vehicle, state police said.

The man, identified as 75-year-old Alan Rosenthal of Bloomfield, was transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford by the Granby Ambulance Association, where he was pronounced dead, according to state police.
