A box truck slammed into a parked van in Midtown Manhattan on Monday afternoon, sending the van onto the sidewalk where it struck a group of pedestrians, leaving one person critically injured, according to the NYPD.
The truck was heading north on Eighth Avenue when it hit the unoccupied van near West 30th Street around 4 p.m., police said. The force of the crash pushed the van over the curb and into a crowd of people on the sidewalk.
Ten people were injured in total, according to police. Nine were taken to Bellevue Hospital, including one in critical condition and the rest in stable condition. One person refused medical attention at the scene, officials said.
