When Caitlin Eynon was 12, she faced a choice between following her peers into softball or pursuing the male-dominated sport she really loved — baseball.
A decade later, it is a decision that has her on the cusp of history, as American baseball prepares for the return of a professional women's league after a 70-year hiatus.
Eynon, 22, who grew up playing baseball predominantly in male teams, was accepted into the draft for the upcoming Women's Pro Baseball League (WPBL) in the United States.
The Perth local said she continued playing in the hope of one day inspiring others.
"A lot of girls get pushed into softball, so I think trying to be that person … to show them that you can play baseball — you can do what you want to do"
