Alberta MLAs are set to return to the legislature later this week but the government is not giving any details on if or when it will force striking teachers to return to work.

On Monday, government house leader Joseph Schow set out the government’s agenda for upcoming fall sitting of the 31st legislature’s second session. Lt.-Gov. Salma Lakhani will read out the government-written speech from the throne Thursday afternoon to mark the start of proceedings.

Schow said the government will introduce a minimum of 15 new bills, but did not confirm that those would include back-to-work legislation that Premier Danielle Smith has indicated could come as soon as next Monday.
