BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Police in Battle Creek are investigating after the discovery of two explosive devices late in the night on Oct. 17.
Police and fire crews responded after receiving a report of an explosion on Ridge Street. They arrived on scene shortly before 11:30 p.m.
Emergency crews found an improvised explosive device (IED) that had been thrown under a recreational vehicle (RV), parked on the side of Ridge Street. Officers also found a second IED in the road next to the RV that appeared to be a small pipe bomb. They said the second explosive device had failed to function.
The Battle Creek Police Department's Bomb Unit came to the scene and secured the unexploded IED, taking it to a secure location.
