JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Daiki Hashimoto of Japan topped men's all-around qualifying at the world gymnastics championships.

Hashimoto, who won gold in the all-around at the 2020 Olympics and at worlds in 2022 and 2023 before a rare stumble at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, posted a total of 83.065, just ahead of Noe Seifert of Switzerland at 82.499.

The 24-year-old Hashimoto overcame a shaky performance on floor by posting the third-highest score on both vault and high bar to lead the field of 24 into the all-around finals on Wednesday. Zhang Boheng of China, the 2021 world champion and the silver medalist at the Paris Games last summer, placed third in qualifying.
