HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man was arrested after an automated license plate reader camera in Hanford caught him driving in a stolen car Sunday, police said.
Hector Contreras, 35, from Avenal was arrested. Police said the camera caught him driving a reported stolen 2003 Honda near 7th Street and East Street.
Police located the car traveling eastbound on 7th Street from Douty Street. Officers conducted an enforcement stop and all four occupants in the car were detained.
It was later revealed during the investigation that the Honda Accord had been reported stolen out of Templeton. The license plate affixed to the vehicle had also been reported stolen from Paso Robles approximately two days earlier, police said.
