CLOUTIERVILLE, La. (KALB) - For nearly nine years, part of Highway 495 in Cloutierville has been blocked off after it was damaged during a major storm.

Residents said they are tired of waiting and want the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to finally fix it.

People living in the area said the closure has caused serious problems for everyone, especially the elderly who depend on emergency services.

Charles Roge, a local resident, said people from other parishes, and even out of state, often need ambulance help, but those responders don’t realize how bad the road conditions are.

“People that I know of, living between the barricade and Highway 1, are suffering from heart conditions. Myself is one. These people depend on help whenever they have a problem,” he said. “T
