DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- A wooded lot on the corner of Page Road and Chin Page Road in Durham will soon be home to hundreds of people searching for an affordable place to live.
On Monday night, the Durham city council voted to approve the Page Corners project. Developers said it will be an affordable housing complex with 160 apartments, costing roughly $57 million to construct.
"This is kind of an under-the-radar but super important affordable housing project," Durham city council member Carl Rist said. "This is critical for creating affordable housing for families in Durham and just shows it's not one way we do it. We have multiple tools and we're using all of them because we know that affordable housing is a huge challenge in this city."
All of the apartments are reserved for families e
