MAINE, USA — Tree farm owners said their trees will be ready for harvest in a few weeks, despite a significant drought this year.

Matt Quinn, the owner of Quinn's Tree Farm in Cornville and the president of the Maine Christmas Trees Association, said the drought has been a "significant inconvenience."

"In a typical year, I don't have to stop what I'm doing. Farmers wouldn't have to stop what they're doing and go irrigate or go maintain those, or plant extra trees down the road," Quinn said.

The more mature trees handle the dry conditions well once they have established root systems, but the younger ones struggle, Quinn said.

"The biggest issue that we have is with the trees that we have planted this year," he said.
