ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - One of metro Atlanta’s busiest roads just got even busier.
Tom Roberts, Brookhaven’s Director of Public Works, said a storm drain pipe collapsed under Ashford Dunwoody Road at Interstate 285 near Perimeter Mall.
“What we found is a collapse of the road, a sinkhole opened up in the road. So, a hole opened up in the road and we looked down in it and it was deep, and it went under the road,” Roberts said. “It’s completely collapsed. It was rusted through at the bottom, and it just fell down, and water continues to flow through there, so it takes dirt away with it and so that’s what formed the sinkhole.”
As a result, a stretch of Ashford Dunwoody Road is closed for the next three weeks.
“Three weeks? That’s, nope. How’s that going to work?” driver Daniel
