BILLINGS, Mont. – The Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter announced plans to vacate its current building following a concerning incident involving fumes from an incinerator.

Shelter officials stated that all personal property would be removed within the next 30 days. This decision came after the incinerator, used by law enforcement, backed up and sent fumes into the building.

Initially, the staff was informed that the fumes contained methamphetamine. Later, they discovered other drugs, including cocaine and heroin, were present.

The shelter emphasized the importance of this information for medical professionals treating their staff for exposure. The lack of communication significantly influenced their decision to leave the building and terminate their agreement with the city of Billings.
