PALATKA, Putnam County — A 12-year-old student at Palatka Junior-Senior High School is facing a second-degree felony charge after deputies say a notebook containing written threats to kill classmates was discovered in a girls’ bathroom.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the notebook, titled “Deth Note," included a list of names, with several entries followed by the phrase “I’m going to kill her.” Investigators say the notebook also contained a statement identifying it as belonging to the 12-year-old student, who admitted ownership when questioned.

School officials immediately contacted the parents of the students named, and deputies took the child into custody. She was charged with a written threat to kill and transferred to a juvenile facility.
