LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Jefferson County Republican Party has chosen Calvin Leach as its nominee for the upcoming special election to fill David Yates’ Kentucky State Senate seat, GOP strategist Jake Cox confirmed to WHAS11.

Leach, a lifelong resident of the South End, is running for this seat a second time. He unsuccessfully ran against David Yates in the 2024 general election.

He is a 2008 graduate of PRP High School and previously served as a legislative aide for former Metro Councilman Rick Blackwell.

In his initial announcement to run for the seat in 2024, Leach said he was new to politics, stating safety and fixing public education as some of his priorities.
