YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- Youngstown City Schools Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor gave the state of the schools address on Monday night.

100 people, the majority being district employees, listened in the East High School Auditorium as Batchelor shared the message that the district still has struggles and work to do but is overall improving.

His address started from when he was hired as East's principal in 2018.

"Our report card had straight F's across the board, and we stood there and decided that day that that is not who we are," Batchelor said.

He said on the latest report card, East went from 1.5 to 2.5 stars. Chaney went from two stars to 3.5 stars, and Rayen Early College High School was 4.5 stars.
