BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Five small cities in the Peace Garden State received funding last week to repair or replace infrastructure that provides essential services. Among those was the City of Almont, which received $1 million to replace several blocks of aging sanitary sewer, drinking water, and roadway infrastructure.
The funding is part of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, whose goal is to help local governments improve public facilities, housing, and other services that benefit low- to moderate- income residents and aim to improve quality of life.
Almont's infrastructure is decades old — including streets and sewage — with some facilities installed in the 1950s.
City Auditor Lynne Jacobson tells KX that they have been looking into funding options for several years
