A senior West Midlands Police officer has been sacked over gross misconduct. A hearing was told that former Chief Inspector Daryl Lyon dishonestly made an insurance claim for a wristwatch that he had previously sold.
A misconduct panel hearing, held at West Midlands Police HQ, ruled that the ex-top cop's actions were 'gross misconduct' and the officer, who was once Coventry's temporary Superintendent, was dismissed.
In a statement provided to CoventryLive, Deputy Chief Constable Scott Green said Lyon had 'brought discredit on the police service' and his actions were 'totally inappropriate'.
