The Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 548 is requesting the public's help in identifying a driver who hit a firefighter and drove away.

The group said the incident happened just before 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to a Facebook post. The firefighter was working for TSR Tree Service at the time, doing tree removal duty off of Skycrest Road. A car hit the firefighter and drove away. The Local 548 said that the firefighter was wearing a helmet, which they believe likely saved his life. The firefighter, whose name was named released, was taken to the hospital. He was stable on Tuesday morning.
