CINCINNATI (WXIX) - An employment attorney representing Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge said the city has no grounds to put her on paid administrative leave and only did it to make her a “political scapegoat”

“The best thing the city can do right now to address crime is to let Terry get back to work,” Steve Imm said during a news conference Tuesday.

“They are looking for a scapegoat.”

It’s the first time we’ve seen the chief and heard from her attorney since City Manager Sheryl Long announced Monday she put the chief on leave “pending an internal investigation on the effectiveness of her leadership in the Cincinnati Police Department.”

It happened on Chief Theetge’s 35th anniversary of putting on the badge, and she is “devastated,” her attorney noted.
