Shillong, Oct 21: A delegation of journalists from Meghalaya and Tripura has returned to Shillong after an insightful visit to the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Ltd. (KSIC) in Mysuru, as part of a media tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Shillong. The visit offered a first-hand experience of the heritage, craftsmanship, and continued legacy of Mysore Silk, one of India’s most iconic handloom traditions.

The Mysore Silk Weaving Factory, originally established in 1912 by Maharaja Sri Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, remains a symbol of India’s textile excellence. Now operated by KSIC, a government enterprise, the factory blends traditional hand weaving techniques with modern precision to produce high-quality silk sarees woven with genuine 22-karat gold zari.
