BATON ROUGE, La. (KALB) - Three people were killed in a fire in Hessmer, and another person was killed in a Houma fire over the weekend, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
On October 18, the Hessmer Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Lymon Lane around 7:17 a.m. Three people were found dead at the home: a 58-year-old man, a 47-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy. SFM confirmed that there was no working smoke alarm.
Additionally, a 70-year-old man was killed in a fire on October 19 in the 1100 block of Grinage Street in Houma. The man’s brother was also treated at a medical center for serious fire-related injuries. It is unknown at this time if there was a working smoke alarm in the home.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is actively investigating both fire
