CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Police have identified the man hit and killed by a train near a busy Charlotte neighborhood on Monday morning.
Kenneth Marsh, 60, was hit just before 10 a.m. on Central Avenue , close to Lamar Avenue in Plaza Midwood.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, Marsh was walking near the railroad tracks at the time he was hit. He died at the scene.
The train was operated by CSX. A representative with the company said none of the crew members were hurt.
“CSX extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragic incident and will continue to support local law enforcement as they complete the investigation,” a company representative wrote in a statement to the media.
