MARTIN COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - Possible human remains were discovered in the Inez community of Martin County on October 20, according to Kentucky State Police.

An initial investigation indicated human skeletal remains were located in a wooded area near Coldwater Road in Martin County, KSP said.

Police said the remains were removed by the Martin County Coroner’s Office and will be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for identification.

Detective Tony Tackett is currently leading the investigation, and was assisted on scene by KSP personnel and the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, according to KSP.

No other information is known at this time.
