LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- A British research company has ranked Michigan State University among the top 5% of higher education institutions globally.

Times Higher Education, which publishes news and analysis on major universities, ranked MSU at No. 105 out of more than 2,191 universities worldwide. At the top of the list is Oxford University in the UK.

The highest-ranked university based in the U.S. is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), ranked No. 2, and the highest-ranked in the state of Michigan is the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, ranked No. 23.
