GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kent County man who threatened to kill President Donald Trump, but says he doesn’t remember it because of an alcohol-induced blackout, was sentenced this week to 18 months in federal prison.
The online posts earlier this year by Richard James Spring targeted Trump and the president’s family, including “I will make SURE he is assassinated," according to court records. Trump's family members were threatened with various forms of violence, including rape, in a series of social media posts rife with misspellings and grammatical errors.
The posts, made over four days soon after Trump’s inauguration, drew the attention of the U.S. Secret Service.
