LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) has launched a new initiative that will award college credit to residents who complete registered trades apprenticeship programs.

LEO reports that it, along with trades unions, the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), and the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA), have partnered to award college credit for students who complete registered apprenticeship training as part of the College Credit for Apprenticeship initiative.

These credits can be applied towards earning an associate degree or technical certificate at community colleges.
