JAMES CITY COUNTY — The James City County Police Department announced a Surry man was given two life sentences Monday for his role in an October 2024 road rage shooting in the county. Joseph Adams, 45, was sentenced by the Williamsburg-James City Circuit Court to two consecutive life terms plus 19 years in prison for his role in the shooting at the intersection of Centerville Road and Monticello Avenue in James City County that left two people injured.

According to officials, at approximately 3 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2024, the James City County Police and Fire Departments responded to reports of a shooting with gunshot patients near Monticello Avenue and Greensprings Plantation Drive stemming from the incident.
