WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to just over two years of incarceration for the hit-and-run death of a Wichita man last year.

Christopher Johnson pleaded no contest last month to driving under the influence and a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Judge Eric Williams sentenced him on Tuesday to 19 months in prison and six months in jail.

The incident happened in the early-morning hours of Sunday, August 18, 2024 in the 2400 block of North Hoover, near Zoo Blvd. Police said 43-year-old Tad Doyle was riding an electric bicycle northbound on Hoover when he was struck, and the vehicle did not stop.
