A man was arrested Thursday after deputies with the Butte County Sheriff’s Office pulled a car over in Chico in the area of Park Avenue and East 14th Street and allegedly found methamphetamine.
According to a press release issued Tuesday by the Sheriff’s Office, 59-year-old Chico resident Lee Jones was arrested after drug paraphernalia and roughly 12 grams of methamphetamine were allegedly found in his vehicle.
The stop was initially conducted for what the Sheriff’s Office said was a vehicle code violation.
“Due to the increased penalties provided by Proposition 36 for those previously convicted of two or more drug related crimes, Jones was arrested on a felony drug charge under the new laws, and was booked into the Butte County Jail,” the release said. “The Sheriff’s Office encourages
