When Kurt Korte, Vice President of Forecasting for Surfline, stood before the audience at the Coastal Studies Institute (CSI) on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 17, he wasn’t just speaking to surfers. He was addressing scientists, coastal engineers and anyone fascinated by the unpredictable dance between wind, waves and sand on the Outer Banks.
