A cold front is sweeping through Maryland tonight, bringing a burst of rain and thunder before ushering in cooler, drier air that will stick around for days.

Some heavier showers and a few rumbles of thunder have been moving through ahead of the front this evening. It's not a severe setup, but there's enough energy in the atmosphere to spark some lightning and quick downpours. By midnight, most of the rain will be gone, and the air will start to feel noticeably cooler and drier. Lows will dip into the 40s around Baltimore, closer to 50 downtown, and down into the 30s in far western Maryland.
