A 39-year-old driver from Kingston has been arrested and charged following a traffic stop on Oct. 18.

Around 10:40 p.m., an officer with the Kingston Police Patrol Division witnessed a Highway Traffic Act violation in the area of Montreal Street and Joseph Street.

After conducting a traffic stop in relation to the violation, the officer was able to see a quantity of illegal tobacco products within the vehicle. A further search revealed that the driver, who was alone at the time, was also in possession of a quantity of illegal substances, specifically cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and psilocybin.

In total, officers seized approximately $73,000 (street value) worth of illegal substances as well as an additional $3,057 worth of Canadian currency.
