Suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez has waived his right to a speedy trial.

While a trial date has been set for Nov. 10, his attorneys filed a motion asking Judge Brian Welke to continue the case.

They said they're still waiting on evidence from the state’s discovery, including cellphone downloads and one year of surveillance footage from the Eclipse social club in Kissimmee.

A hearing this Thursday about Lopez's request to change the venue to Osceola County has been canceled.

The state filed a 22-page motion arguing that court proceedings should continue in Lake County.

The prosecutor said that while he solicited campaign donations in 2019, Lopez began receiving cash payments from the proceeds of illegal casinos in Lake County.
