Winn-Dixie announced plans Tuesday, Oct. 21 to leave Birmingham and the entire state of Alabama by the end of 2025 to focus on its stores in Florida and Georgia.

Before they depart, the company hopes to sell off all remaining Winn-Dixie stores to other grocers.

Earlier this month, the company announced they were closing three Birmingham metro stores in November and said they would become Food City grocery stores.
