YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Chaney topped East 10-6 in the final meeting between the two storied football programs on Saturday at Rayen Stadium. Following the game, players from the two long-time members of The City Series met at midfield and were officially introduced as one team, the Youngstown Defenders.
Chaney took the lead for good when Sidney Davis recovered an errant snap in the endzone for a touchdown.
The Cowboys scored the only points of the first half on a 39-yard field goal by Eder Gomez, giving Chaney a 3-0 lead at the break.
East took the look in the third quarter when quarterback Jaden Irving plunged in for a one-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion try was no-good, but the Golden Bears held a 6-3 lead.
With the win, Chaney ends the season with a record of 4-5. East ends
